Netflix: You Are Driving Me Away!
I have always been a huge fan of Netflix. What’s not to like about them – get as many DVDs as you can watch delivered by mail for a very reasonable price. Add to that the ability to live stream movies via your PC, specific set-top devices and even some TVs and it is a match made in heaven for any lover of media on DVDs.
Unfortunately as of late, Netflix has been driving me away. I have been courting another DVD rental “lover” and that is Redbox. “What can possibly be the problem,” you might ask? Just look at my current queue of DVDs I’m waiting on.
7 Ridiculous Homeowners Association (HOA) Rules
The astonishingly restrictive ways of homeowners associations (HOAs) came under scrutiny this month when a Sussex Square, Virginia, HOA demanded that a 90-year-old World War II vet remove an unapproved flag pole from his front yard. After receiving support from members of Congress, and even the Obama administration, Medal of Honor recipient Van T. Barfoot, who once singlehandedly took on three Nazi tanks, triumphed in his quest to fly Old Glory. Other homeowners haven’t been as lucky in their battles against their own HOAs’ “fascist” rules.
U2 360 Tour Comes To University of Phoenix Stadium
After many years of wanting to see U2 live but always missing the opportunity (concerts sell out), I finally got to see themalong with my lovely wife Irma in their biggest, baddest show yet – U2 360. Tuesday, October 20th at the Cardinals stadium is where it all took place and although the show here didn’t sell out (Phoenix you suck), there were about 55,000 in attendance.
Property Tax Review Board (PTRB): Is It a Scam?
This post is specifically for residents in Arizona but who knows if this scam is not going on elsewhere throughout the country. A company called “Property Tax Review Board” or PTRB for short is sending out letters promising homeowners that they can help homeowners reduce their property tax bills for the 2009 tax year for a fee of $189.
Alltel’s “Roller Coaster” Commercial Tasteless & Irresponsible
One recent Alltel commercial really ruffles my feathers. It is the one where a roller coaster is the central theme and people are in areas that are always closed off looking for things that have dropped out of people’s pockets. It promotes an action that is very reckless and can be deadly.
Sold: Marshall AVT 275 2×12 Combo Guitar Amplifier
I recently purchased a Vox Custom Classic AC15CC1 Guitar Amp so the Marshall Guitar Amp I’ve been using for the last several years has to go. Because I’m running POD XT Live effects, I no longer need the four channels as well as all the effects that the Marshall amplifier offers. So she’s up for sale.
If you are looking for a 150 watt Marshall Combo amp, this is your chance to get one at about two-thirds of what you’d pay for it brand new.
Our First Hot Air Balloon Ride
In celebration of our 18th wedding anniversary, Irma and myself decided to do something we had both desired to accomplish for some time – to ride in a hot air balloon. We did just that this last Monday where we reached heights of up to 4,300 feet and lows just above the rooftops of Anthem homes.
San Francisco / Bay Area in Two Days
Irma and myself have made it an annual event to visit San Francisco and the Bay Area annually in conjunction with Search Marketing Expo and Search Engine Strategies conferences that are held in the San Jose area.
Typically we take 3-4 days after the conference and head up the 101 to San Francisco as well as wine Napa and/or Sonoma Counties. Most recently, we decided to hit do the “vacation” portion of our trip first and limited it to just two days.
I’m a Grandpa For the Second Time!
I’m about a week late getting this up but wanted to make the announcement that my youngest daughter, Leah gave birth to our second grandchild last Thursday at 12:58 in the morning. Her name is Jadyn Nicole and she weighed in at 8 lbs, 7 ounces and was 21 inches long at birth. She is completely healthy and gorgeous (just like her mamma).
Human Flight Getting Closer Every Day
Have you ever dreamed of flying? I’m not referring to airplanes, balloons or even hang gliders but to fly as the birds do would be simply fantastic. Good news for such enthusiasts is that there are several companies that are working hard to make such a dream a reality.
